When balding sets in, rather than treating the condition, many men simply shave the remaining hair and go bald. If you have been shaving your head for a while and have not achieved that smooth feel to your scalp, you are wondering how everyone else has it. Interestingly, this is not so hard to do. It boils down to the products you use and how you shave your head.

Shaving your head bald is just like shaving your face. The only difference is that it is a larger area and your head it rounder. If you do end shaving your head the wrong way, this could be disastrous. Imagine having a bald head full of cuts, razor bumps, ingrown hairs and perhaps even razor burn! Not only will it be painful but also unattractive.

Achieving a smooth bald head is all about what we like to refer to as PSP: Prep, Shave, Protect.

Prep - take a shower before you shave your head. If you have medium length hair, then cut it down to a buzz cut and then apply exfoliator. This is the first secret towards getting a, smooth, bald head.

Shave - take your time to shave, do not rush it. Use a shaving cream with lather in it. Use a mirror to make sure you do not miss any spots.

Protect - you need to moisturize your head, like you do to your face after you shave. Choose a moisturizer with sunscreen for maximum protection.
And that is how you do it PSP style. Just follow the steps and choose the right products to achieve that smooth, bald head.

Extreme stress can lead to a scientific condition known as Telogen Effluvium. While sounding scary, it simply means hair thinning because of stress. While stress itself does not cause hair loss, the habits formed when under stress can lead to hair loss. The following are some of those habits and ways to avoid them.

Poor Diet - Stress causes an unbalanced diet. This in turn causes a lack of nutrients that are essential to replace falling hair. Consider this fact: a normal person loses almost 100 follicles a day and a person under stress loses 300. With that in mind a balanced diet rich in protein, with low fats and carbohydrate content is important for people under stress.

Alcohol and Cigarettes - Apart from the obvious harm caused by these vices, studies have shown that overindulgence can cause hair loss. When under high levels of stress, however difficult it may seem, try cutting back on these or try quitting altogether.

Hair Fiddling - Obvious as it may be, pulling or twisting hair and scratching your head are direct contributors to hair loss. Stop pulling out your hair every time something goes wrong and find some other means of relieving your frustrations, like using a stress ball.

While these pointers and little cures may help you in the short-term, the eventual goal is to reduce your overall stress levels. Get a new hobby, laugh at yourself and your problems, and get some exercise. A Positive and healthy outlook on life will always help you keep stress and hair loss levels down!

Is your bald spot putting you in the midst of constant jokes amongst your friends? This of course can be very frustrating, especially when you are making that extra effort to stop the hair loss. Here is what you can do to put a stop to all the jokes and snide comments. Take no notice of how much hair you have lost or how big your bald spot is. You can reverse it and stop the hair loss if you take the right steps. The earlier you attend to it, the easier it is to treat it. It does not really matter how long you have suffered from hair loss, you can still put a stop to it.

Most importantly, you must realize that overnight results are absolutely impossible and cannot be done, not by any treatment. Hair loss treatments can take months, but by choosing the right treatment you can stop hair loss and perhaps lose the bald patch.

What exactly can you do?
There are quite a number of chemical treatments like Propecia and Rogaine. Keep in mind that they do carry significant side effects and some people choose to stop using these treatments once they discover the side effects. There are also natural alternatives to such treatments which of course can slow down the hair loss process by blocking the production of DHT. These substances not only slow down the process but in many cases, can reverse the process as well. If the cause for your hair loss is stress, this can be reversed very quickly. Think about changing a few things about your lifestyle. Cut down on junk food, alcohol and cigarettes. This should be the first step. Remember, hair loss does not have to be permanent.

The field of drug treatment might be turned on its ear if a recommendation by a special review board comes to fruition. ASAM News reports that the Scientific Review Management Board (SRMB), created by Congress in 2006 to provide oversight to the National Institute of Health (NIH), has recommended that the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) be merged.

The SRMB report said that merging the NIDA and NIAAA would maximize efficiencies by creating one institute to research addiction and new addiction treatment program methods. This merger would create lower overhead costs and a more efficient bureaucracy with less red tape for researchers. However, critics contend that the merger would create a scenario where the smaller NIAAA would be overwhelmed by the larger NIDA, leading to less emphasis on funding and research into alcohol addiction.
