Even as teens cut back on their use of tobacco, binge drinking and methamphetamines they are smoking marijuana in increasing numbers, according to a new report conducted by the University of Michigan for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).  20.6 percent of high school seniors surveyed said they had smoked pot within the last month, still far less than peak levels in the 1990s.

White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske said that the "continued erosion in youth attitudes and behavior toward substance abuse should give pause to all parents and policy-makers" as lax attitudes about so-called “gateway drugs” could lead to harder drugs and addiction treatment in the future.

However, there was good news in the report. The type of binge drinking that typically signifies the need for treatment in an alcohol abuse center continued to decline. There is also less of a need for teens to be treated in an addiction center for Ritalin abuse, as use of the ADHD drug as a stimulant also decreased.

An estimated 30 million females suffer from baldness. This might come as a surprise - though the numbers speak true, that female baldness could be so widespread.

Hair loss in females covers a wide variety of factors. One is that women, like men, have testosterone in their bodies, but obviously at a much lower level. A by-product of testosterone, known as DHT or dihydrotestosterone is what damages your hair follicles, which of course leads to the loss of hair. Women sensitive to this male hormone are likely to experience baldness.

Another cause for female hair loss is a deficiency in certain vitamins and minerals. To avoid this, it is recommended that you follow a diet rich in zinc, magnesium and vitamin B. Stress is also one of the top causes for hair loss in females. Extreme cases involve an irreversible loss of hair, which can be traumatic. In cases like childbirth and stress, temporary hormonal imbalances cause hair loss which should stop within a few months.

To decrease the loss of hair, products like Provillus could help. This product has a separate formula for women, and considers the separate needs of women when dealing with balding, excessive scalp damage and hair loss.

However, it is always best to consult your doctor or health practitioner with such issues before trying out any supplements or products and let them determine their safety and suitability.

Americans like being number one, but being at the top of a drug addiction list is hardly cause for celebration. But that’s where the United States stands after a World Health Organization report said that the country ranks first in lifetime usage of three major drugs.

By percentage, Americans were more likely to have used cocaine, marijuana and tobacco than people in any of the 17 nations surveyed. This correlates with information in the report suggesting a link between a person’s wealth and their likelihood to have tried drugs. People with more money had a higher likelihood of having at least experimented with drugs if not winding up in an addiction center.

However, this doesn’t mean that America should expect a sudden rise in the number of people needing treatment in a rehab center. Dr. Wilson Compton of NIDA’s Division of Epidemiology, Services and Prevention Research said that the number could be skewed by the high number of people who dabbled with cocaine in the 1970s and 1980s and that the numbers were less “pronounced” when comparing young adults.

Going bald too fast? Stop thinning hair without hair loss drugs.
When faced with hair loss, most people naturally seek instantaneous results. These are mostly found in drugs available at local pharmacies. People easily find hair loss drugs and the variety is fairly large. Most people favor this option as the easy way out, and thus get hooked on such cures. Unfortunately, most people are absolutely unaware that their hair can grow again through natural methods.

Natural hair regrowth methods are easy to follow and results can be quite astonishing. What is necessary is the will to follow through with the process.

If faced with thinning hair, the first thing to look into is blood circulation on your scalp. If there is not enough blood circulation on your scalp, this could be the reason for thinned out hair. The same applies for nutrients essential for hair growth. If your intake of nutrients is insufficient, then going bald is quite possible in the future. Therefore, you need to frequently massage your scalp to improve blood circulation and eat good diet to ensure that you get the required nutrients for good hair growth. Massage your scalps for 15 minutes every day using your fingertips.

An evaluation of hair care products you use could also signal the reason for hair loss. Whatever the products maybe, whether it is hair gel, shampoo, sprays, and so on - these can all contribute to hair growth or even hair loss. If any hair product contains harmful and harsh chemical additives such as sodium laureth sulphate, then I recommend that you look for a new product that does not contain them.
